Healthy Snacks For Picky Eaters
Do you have healthy snacks for picky eaters? It’s a good thing that picking healthy snacks for kids can be quite easy and fun. Healthy snacks are those which meet basic nutrition needs but without adding too many unhealthy fats or sugar. Most snacks include: non-fat yogurt (always look for plain and natural flavors), nuts and seeds (especially sunflower seeds and walnuts), and fresh or steamed vegetables (asparagus, carrots, celery, cucumber, snap peas, green beans). If you want to add variety to your child’s snacks, you can mix different fruits, vegetables, lean meats or fish in with their favorite snack.
One of the best healthy snacks for picky eaters are chicken nuggets. Chicken nuggets are a great source of protein and are available in several varieties. For example, you can get boneless skinless chicken nuggets, drumsticks, wing tips or turkey nuggets.
Another healthy snack for kids is banana and peanut butter. Kids absolutely adore banana. It has a sweet taste and is not too oily. If you use a lower fat brand of chocolate, it will still be delicious and the added health benefits of the peanut butter can be enjoyed as well. One added perk of this particular snack is that it is easy to make your own.
If you’re looking for a great snack idea for this age group, think about shrimp chips. Shrimp chips come in two varieties: regular and cashew. They are easy to make and offer lots of flavor, thanks to the addition of a spicy tomato sauce. A healthy nutritional goal for this snack is about 80 calories and just under 3 grams of added sugar.
Pecans are another one of my healthy snacks for picky eaters. I love pecans because they are so low in fat and they have a wonderful nut butter flavor. If you do not have access to peanuts, walnuts or almonds, look for roasted beets or even nutritional yeast flakes. Nut butter is also an excellent addition to a pecan recipe. As with the chocolate example, a little goes a long way when it comes to eating habits with this snack.
The other thing that goes without saying when it comes to nut butters is that they should be healthy fats. The best choice for this is organic canola oil. You don’t need any cooking skills to cook with it. Just spread it on crackers or toast and you are all set. If you add sugar instead of adding honey, you will create a dessert that is not only delicious, but also extremely healthy.
Finally, another pair of foods that I make when I am trying to feed my picky eaters are yogurt and protein bars. The protein bars that you buy at the store have most of the whey and casein that you need, but there may be a few that do not. If you cannot find any at the store, you can often find them online. This is one of the easiest healthy snacks for eaters to digest fast.
When you come to prepare meals, always make sure that the things that you are serving are still on their best qualities. This means that you may have to try something new if you haven’t tried it before. If you do decide to try something new as far as snacks for eaters, just be sure that you only do it once or twice. Even if your first time eats it and becomes addicted, you will have to eat less so that it won’t become a problem. Just remember that everyone has their own preference when it comes to their preferred food and snack.
